“You can’t use up creativity.

The more you use, the more you have.”

-Maya Angelou

Why support the talent of our students?

Schools must realize that creativity isn’t just great to have, it’s an essential human skill.  Without talent support in the local districts, many schools will be out of sync with global demand and societal needs, leaving students unprepared for the future.

Creativity motivates kids to learn.

Research links creativity with the intrinsic motivation to learn.  When students are focused on a creative goal, they become more absorbed in their learning and more driven to acquire the skills they need to accomplish their goal.

Creativity lights up the brain.

Creativity gives students the freedom to explore and learn new things from each other.  As they overcome challenges, they bring their creative ideas to life.

Creativity spurs emotional development.

The creative process involves trial and error.  It builds resilience, teaching students to push through difficulty to achieve success.

Creativity can ignite those hard-to-reach students.

Many teachers have a student who has struggled but then found themselves when assigned a particular lesson or placed in a creative class.  Some students may not do well on tests but are super-creative kids!

Creativity is an essential job skill of the future.

We can’t exist without creative thinkers.  As automation continues to swallow up routine jobs, those who have creative skills will see the growth.                                                                                                  Nicole Krueger ISTE

Goal

The goal of this project is to reach out to our schools and our community to support those areas in education that support creative talents.  Utilize this project to serve as the Altruistic project or program for your chapter.  Support this project monetarily by purchasing supplies, inviting teachers of creative programs to speak at a meeting or event, or by volunteering in areas that your chapter feels important.

Due March 1, 2023 and March 1, 2024
